A bespoke garden designed for relaxation
The owners of this large suburban garden wanted their outside space to be somewhere they could escape from their busy jobs, entertain friends and look beautiful without requiring too much maintenance. They also liked to create atmosphere that would remind them of their holidays in warmer climates.
To achieve that I designed a generous stone terrace and decking at the back of the house, providing a comfortable sitting and resting areas. A curved path joins the decking area to gazebo that features an outdoor fireplace and dining area that can be comfortably used for most of the year. The planting on both sides of the path is lush, and has a tropical feel to it thanks to the choice of bold, big leafed plants.
The other corner of the garden was screened with hedging to create a sunny, relaxing sitting space, with colourful perennial planting, designed to be at its best during the summer. The secluded space resembles a small cafe’s courtyard with the French bistro seating set in front of bespoke water feature.
A pergola joins the two distinctive parts of the garden.
The overall design and finish allowed this couple a relaxing refuge where they could entertain and forget the hustle and bustle of their busy life.
